Hey guys! Midterms are now behind me (and I may or may not have recently rewatched Inception), so I have a little plot I'd like to propose to you all. A dreamsharing event!

Basically, there would be a stretch of time--probably about a week, and not over that--where every night, sleeping characters find themselves tripping into other characters' dreams instead of their own, by virtue of the castle's whims/That Wacky Castle Magic^TM. Whatever your character tends to dream about is fair game, which means that threads are free to range anywhere from sharing heartbreaking sad memories to skipping through a lollipop field with marshmallow clouds together! Anything's possible in dreamland, after all :V What a grand opportunity to learn more about your fellow castlegoer's headspace--possibly more than you ever asked for! Whether or not your character remembers these dreams upon waking is up to you, and by extension, characters would be free to start figuring out that something weird's going on while they sleep as the days progress. A great conversational topic for the daytime!

I can't really think of any set guidelines apart from that; this would just be a week-long dream free-for-all, essentially. Would anybody be down for something like this? If so, I'll probably put up a catch-all post sometime next week where we can top-level with our characters' dreams and start threading and such. Until then, feel free to plot around in this post if you'd like to participate in this sort of thing!

But Sophie and Grune will be great fun! Sophie has been having a lot more nightmares lately (THANKS CHARA), so, uh, sorry in advance to anyone who swaps with her! And Grune mostly dreams of picnics and flowers and hugging friends--but every so often, there are dreams of fighting a masked woman in black. Hmm~ :D

Kind of tempted to throw Batman at Sophie- having a big scary bat monster who's on her side might be a welcome sight in one of her nightmares- and Chara at Grune since, while Chara is probably not gonna trust Grune any time soon, Grune's dreamworld sounds like it'd be a relaxing change of pace from what Chara usually deals with.

Sophie could really do with Batman in her dreams, for sure. Because like, even when she's not dreaming about Chara's very rude offer, she often dreams about like...looking for people and not being able to find them and being alone and shit. The joys of growing up in an RP where people dropped on a fairly regular basis...!

And yeah, mostly Grune's dreams are really sweet and relaxing. Even if they meet Schwartz, she's all about unmaking worlds, so maybe Chara won't mind her as much as most! :D;;;;

Congrats on surviving midterms, friend! Boy, am I glad I never have to deal with those again.

I WOULD BE SO DOWN FOR THIS PLOT. So, for Sans, it'd be...basically a coinflip what sort of dream of his you wound up in. If you're lucky, anyone in his head would find him reliving his last few days in Snowdin, with Papyrus. Or maybe they would find themselves a guest at the house, back when Gaster was still alive. Sad dreams from Sans' perspective, but pretty harmless to outsiders - although they might get a bit scarier if a human wanders in.

Unlucky, you get the nightmares and night terrors he's been having since Chara came back. Chara features pretty prominently in all of them, as you might expect. But you also might find yourself on the wrong end of Undyne the Undying, who features pretty heavily in a lot of his "being chased and ripped apart" dreams.

Sans-Serif has a better chance of fluffy dreams, I think. You might literally find yourself in the world of "Peek-A-Boo with Fluffy Bunny". Then again, though, the kid has lived kind of a messed up life. So you also might find yourself as a scientist back in the lab, and he might find himself trying to attack any humans he sees. Sorry about that. >_<

I might just save Giles and Chihiro for trying to help out anyone else stuck in nightmares.

I also might foreshadow the two plot ideas I had for the skeletons. Which is to say, Sans' dreams might also involve turning into a giant bone dragon. And Sans-Serif's dreams might also involve getting mobbed and surrounded by alternate versions of himself! So have fun with that, guys.

The thread is still ongoing, but basically, in the midst of his mad scientist mania while Frisk was dead, Sans tried to recreate some of the experiments that he and Gaster did to first give him his powers, in the hopes of making himself stronger. On the one hand, it worked a little - enough that he's not dead after everything he put himself through (and probably the only reason he's currently able to operate on fractional HP).

But on the other hand, at least in my backstory for this specific Sans, this won't be the first time he's transformed like this. Gaster was able to change him back last time and get him stable. Gaster isn't here right now! So that will eventually be a thing that happens, since he basically overloaded himself and that power's gonna have to go somewhere.

Sans is aware that this is a possibility, but not really clear on anything he can do about it, so he's just kind of trying to keep the possibility in the back of his head. Right where dreams usually get their fuel!

The entire three days of Frisk's death (and six or so hours after their return), was basically one long lesson for Sans of "this is why you don't do x during stages of grief" and, perhaps more importantly, "this is why you don't do x on no sleep." With the most prominent "x" being "hostage negotiations". -_-

His memories of getting his powers will probably play at least a visual part in any transformation-type dreams, which is going to be interesting, because they'll probably make Gaster look so damn awful when, at least for this Sans, Gaster was actually a very cool big bro and it was Sans' idea to go ahead with the experiments ahead of Gaster's doubts. So this has been something of an ongoing thing, for him.

BUT YES, a nice preview of things to come. Now y'all can't say I didn't warn you. :3 Mwahahahaha.

OOOH MAN THIS SOUNDS EXCELLENT. I was actually thinking about something like that, except it actually being in the castle itself. This seems a bit less complicated to pull of, though :V

With Frisk, it could range from fun--going through the Underground without killing anyone, especially moments with Undyne or Papyrus--to calm/sad/lonely-feeling times in their home city, to the horrible nightmares that were Photoshop Flowey and the True Lab amalgamates. Or their friends trying to kill them.

Sans could play an unfortunate part in those "one of their friends is trying to kill them" dreams. Especially since, in his dreams, he could still expect "Chara" to look like Frisk. So Frisk could find themselves in the last hallway and things could go horribly wrong from there.

On the other hand, winding up in someone else's memory of Papyrus could do him a lot of good.

And I actually had a dream idea for Sans-Serif that would involve a lot of crowds, so maybe that could take place in their home city?

YAAAY. Sans is in there a lot less, since he never actually tried that, and it'll be extra D: for the kid. Also he might get dropped the really uncomfortable situation of a "fun" dream with Undyne--which includes the times they died to the spears after their reset, since they were excited to see her again even when they had to flee from her.

Frisk's life did escalate very quickly this is true...but oh man Lemon Bread, ah yes :'D AMALGAMATES IN GENERAL would definitely have him thinking about chimeras for sure, which would bother him quite a lot!! He'd been hoping...that chimeras were only ever a thing in his own world....why must Porky's hobby spread to other worlds too :(

And now that we're talking about Chimeras all I can think about is Frisk running into the Ultimate Chimera in one of Lucas's dreams too HAHA OOPS....they can have a mutual chimera exchange?! (worst exchange ever lbr)

Oh yeah that's right I should probably plug in something here too oops--Lucas's dreams tend to run a pretty wide range from peaceful to kind of horrifying! Though there's a faint tint of sadness to pretty much everything anymore, and peaceful scenes can segue pretty abruptly into not-so-peaceful ones with the slightest wrong trigger, it's kinda strenuous :'V

Claus features pretty prominently in his dreams almost all the time these days, in both younger and older flavors--and Mom tends to show up more often than not as well, though at least those occasions are almost always pleasant! (You gotta be careful around Claus though ha....when he's around the Masked Man is usually pretty close by too, and nobody wants to run into that guy lbr.)

Also, whatever you do, don't look inside those red mailboxes :(

SO CHARA AND BRUCE ARE PROBABLY GOING TO BE AMONGST THOSE WITH HORRIFYING DREAMS who here is shocked

Anyway, Chara's dreams are mostly pretty stressful and will usually revolve around them being in a state of non-control somehow. Mostly it'll be Chara running around in twisted versions of their childhood home, school, or the underground (twisted as in the architecture doesn't quite make sense/reflect reality/will probably be somewhat damaged and warped and abandoned looking) going around destroying things without rhyme or reason, uncontrollably ingesting noxious substances, trying to escape and failing, being chased and beaten by various hostile figures, etc. etc.

Less dramatically they might have more pleasant dreams about the Dreemurrs gardening, playing, and otherwise going about their life, but during these dreams Chara will only be observing their family and unable/unwilling to actually interact with them.

Bruce's dreams are going to 99% revolve around Gotham City? He's barely left the city in his life (unlike his canon counterpart, he's never really had the means) so that's where his subconscious draws most backgrounds from.

Pleasant dreams may involve leaping and flying about from rooftop to rooftop, interacting with his beloved batfam members, and maybe some of his more ridiculous/enjoyable adventures.

But, uh, you're also pretty likely to get his recurring flashback dream to his parents' murder, or maybe memories of the abusive foster family he lived with after his parents died (Who, er, exist despite me never mentioning them before), interactions with his rogues gallery and other hostile forces, memories of terrible shit he's seen over his years as a crimefighter, various dreams involving being trapped and put on display in cages, chains, being studied and watched, and seeing other people being twisted into monstrous forms and mutilated.

Also any dreams flashing back to before he was twelve mean that your character'll get an opportunity to see Bruce as a human, which could be interesting/confusing.

Chara and Frisk can have confusing dreams of Chara dying and/or meeting Asriel, since those're things they definitely share :'> or dying to Undyne, which while they weren't doing shit the same way, they probably both died to her a lot.

Bruce might also ~enjoy~ the Amalgamates. Also, a city that is a lot more shiny-looking than Gotham might invade his more pleasant dreams.

At least, Chihiro is very much familiar with dreams of twisted architecture and being lost and alone. So maybe these two can finally have the chance to thread!
